The Philippine Association for Media and Information Literacy (PAMIL) and Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement creating the Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Innovation Hub in an online meeting held recently.
The MIL Innovation Hub will serve as the clearinghouse for information on MIL education in the country and Asia-Pacific. As a laboratory for incubating innovative ideas on MIL, the Hub will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate MIL-related programs and projects aimed at promoting MIL for educators, librarians, students, youth leaders, parents, and other advocates.
The signing was led by Mr. Arniel Ping, PAMIL President and Fr. Filoteo Pelingon, MSC, CFA President and witnessed by Ms. Pie Mabanta-Fenomeno, CFA Executive Director and Dr. Jose Reuben Alagaran II, PAMIL President Emeritus, who conceived the project. Other key officials of PAMIL and CFA joined the event.
According to Dr. Alagaran, “the Hub will serve as a center for knowledge exchange on MIL and advance MIL education through research and scholarship, not only in the country but eventually in the Asia-Pacific region.”
